RIFLE ELK HUNTS
Our Elk hunting areas are area 84 and 86 south of Jackson Hole. These hunts are 7 day, horseback hunts from our comfortable wall tent camp located on East Bondurant Creek, only an hour ride into the National Forest. We host a maximum of six hunters in camp at one time and provide one guide for each pair of hunters. Private guides are available upon request. Our Elk population has been increasing over the last few years, without predation problems from wolves and grizzly bears, we are seeing a larger number of calves surviving every year.
The hunter camp consists of interior log frame tents, an extra large cook & dinning tent, and even an outhouse. The sleeping tents are set up for two hunters per tent with cots, sleeping pads, and woodstoves for those chilly fall nights. Our oversized cook tent is heated by a large woodstove, has a propane kitchen and lighting, , and we keep a fulltime cook in camp. Prices for 2011 Elk hunting is $3,800 per person. This price is all inclusive except for tips to guides and/or cooks.
ARCHERY ELK HUNTS
Archery Elk hunting is some of the most exciting, heart pounding, up-close and personal type hunting offered in the west!
During the elk rut is the best time to bow hunt elk. During this short period of the hunting season elk are very active and vocal which gives you the advantage. We do a lot of glassing, stalking, and calling during this time. This is the one time of the year that we get to pull out our bugles and see that elk really can be brought in to very close range. I
suggest that anyone interested in archery hunting elk be in the best physical shape they can be, and have their archery skills tuned to the best of their ability. I only offer two 7 day hunts for archery elk, which will be roughly the second and third weeks of September. These hunts are $3,500 and are private guided, with a maximum of 4 hunters per week.
If you would like to request a private guide, the fee is an additional $1,000. Extra days beyond the seven days
provided are $500/day. Elk season runs from September 26 until the end of October. Applications for your wyoming Elk License from the Wyoming Game and Fish is due by January 31st. Be sure to apply for a “General Elk License”. A $1500 deposit is required to reserve your hunt.
If you are unsuccessful in the license drawing, your deposit is completely refundable. Elk hunting is one of the most exciting and challenging hunts available in the west. We make sure that your hunt with Hoback Peak Outfitters is one of the most enjoyable experiences you can have.
Please give us a call if you have any questions about our elk hunts, and thank you for your interest in hunting with Hoback Peak Outfitters.
