Josh Roth : Owner/Outfitter

A Nebraska native, Josh Roth moved to Wyoming to pursue his dream of living and working in the mountains.

His passion for trapping, hunting, fishing and the great outdoors was realized at a very young age and Josh has always known that being an outfitter is what he was meant to do. In June 2000, Josh attended the Guide School that he now owns, and has been working in the outfitting business ever since. In 2001 Josh was named Guide of the Year by the Jackson Hole Outfitters and Guides Association.

He loves taking his guests into the heart of Wyoming and showing them the beauty and wonders this part of our world has to offer.

Josh is an expert hunting guide and very knowledgeable of this country. His intimate knowledge of the terrain and the local wildlife migration and behavior patterns means he knows where all of the great hunting grounds lie. Josh currently lives in Alpine, Wyoming with his wife, JayJay.

Whether this is your first hunt or if you are returning to the area, Josh will see to it that you are well prepared for a hunt that you will always remember!

Dave Hanna : guide

Dave has been in the outfitting and guiding business for over 30 years. He moved from Iowa to Wyoming in the late70’s to work for an outfitter in Jackson Hole. After spending eight years guiding elk, deer, and sheep hunters in the Teton Wilderness, he decided to go out on his own. He bought a small outfitting business in the Wyoming Range and turned it into a very successful, well-run hunting camp. For over 20 years Dave operated this camp, which I now own and have been involved with since 2000. To say that Dave knows elk, deer and the surrounding area well is an understatement. I doubt there is anybody in the country that knows the hoback area we hunt, better than Dave. Currently Dave lives in Kelly, Wyoming with his wife Karin and guides a hunt or two each fall for Hoback Peak Outfitters

Erick Kerchner:  Guide

Erick moved from Michigan to Wyoming in 1994 to pursue his dream of becoming a guide. He attended a guide andpacker school where he learned all the necessary skills to get started in the Outfitting business. Erick has spent the last 15 years in and around the Jackson Hole area working for several different Outfitters and learning lots of different country, including the Wyoming Range. For several years he worked for an outfit near the Yellowstone Park line, hunting big migrating bull elk amongst the wolves and grizzly bears. Erick has guided many elk, deer, bear, and even sheep hunters over the years, and enjoys being in the mountains making his living. He has excellent eyes for spotting those big bucks beaded in the rocks, and has an extensive knowledge of the surrounding terrain. When he’s not guiding hunters, he’s hunting for himself, and has killed some tremendous trophies. Currently Erick resides near Pinedale, Wyoming with his two young boys, in a house he built himself. Recently Erick bought his own outfit, but still guides for Hoback Peak when he’s not guiding his own elk or deer clients

Scott Leeper:  Guide

Scott Leeper is a born and raised Wyoming man, spending most of his life around the Jackson and Bondurant areas.  Scott has guided big game hunters for Hoback Peak on and off for over 7 years.  Scott currently resides in Bondurant, Wyoming not far from the mountain ranges we hunt in the fall.  During the winter months Scott heads south to Peoples Valley, Arizona were he hunts mountain lion and big desert elk.  He is one of the most requested guides at Hoback Peak, not just because of his success hunting big game, but also for his personality, and how much fun hunters have with him.  Scott has done it all for me, everything from guiding spring bear hunts, helping teach the guide school, guiding fisherman in the summer, and hunting lots of  elk, deer, bear, and lion in the fall.

Cody Leeper:  Guide

Cody Leeper is another born and raised Wyoming boy.  Spending most of his life near the Upper Hoback, he has been hunting the Wyoming Range from a very young age.  Cody comes from a hunting family, and has basicly grown up on the back of a horse hunting the mountains surrounding my camp.  Cody is in extremely good physical condition, and is capable of climbing to the top of mountains in no time at all.  His conditioning, eyesight, excellent optics, and knowledge of the area makes for a deadly combination when hunting elk and mule deer.

Jake Wyatt:  Guide

Jake is originally from Indiana where he grew up trapping, fishing, and hunting lots of turkeys and white-tailed deer.  In the spring of 2011 Jake attended Hoback Peak’s Guide and Packer School where he graduated at the top of his class.  He was immediately hired on, and has since been working full time for Hoback Peak.  Jake has learned the country very fast, and is quickly adapting his own hunting techniques to the way we hunt the mountains.  He has proved to be a very good caller, calling in lots of bull elk during the rut for archery hunters, and is very good at spotting game.

Deb Harpster:  Camp Cook

Deb is antother Wyoming native, growing up around the Jackson area. When she’s not living in the Upper Hoback area, she’s spending the winters in Arizona working as a carpenter.  Deb is much more of a “Camp Chef” than a Camp Cook and that’s the truth.  She is one of the most unbelieveable cooks I’ve ever seen work in a wall tent.  She works very hard at her job, and wants to make sure everyone in camp is having a good time and has a full belly.  Such a huge part of enjoying a hunt is not only the time spent persuing a trophy, but also the fellowship, atmosphere, and accomodations in a camp.  Deb truly raises the bar when it comes to backcountry cooking, just ask ANYBODY who has ever had the oportunity to enjoy her meals.  Some of her highlights and my personal favorites from 2011 are:  Homemade Cinnomon Rolls, Homemade frosted doughnuts, Fried Chicken, Rum Ribs, Pina Colata Cake, from scratch Carrot Cake, Bacon wrapped shrimp, Stuffed peppers, Steak night, Biscuits and Gravy, and the list goes on forever!!!!
